The Whale Trail is an unforgettable experience, taking you through one of the Western Cape’s most unique and diverse nature reserves. The route stretches over 55km, from Potberg to Koppie Alleen, with five overnight stops (hikers spend the first night at Potberg before starting the trail). The unspoilt natural beauty on this trail is unsurpassable, leading through lush fynbos and offering stunning views of the coast.

De Hoop is known as one of the best land-based whale-watching spots in the world. Between June and November, the coastline is transformed as southern right whales migrate here to breed and look after their young.

Unfortunately, children below the age of eight are not allowed on the trail. The route is fairly strenuous, varying in intensity.

The Whale Trail is 5 days and 5 nights.
The first night will be spent at Koppie Alleen the night before.
The following distances and durations are as follows:

Day 1 = 15.5km (± 8 hours)
Day 2 = 15.2km (± 8 hours)
Day 3 = 8.5km (± 3 hours)
Day 4 = 10.5km (± 6 hours)
Day 5 = 7km (± 6 hours)
Total Distance = 55km

Had the best hiking experience with incredible views! Straightforward...no need to be superfit ...with the incline relatively easy to climb. Thank you Kabelo for being there and patiently having time for all of us...I would definitely do it again

The Otter Trail is South Africa’s oldest and most iconic hiking route. It is named after the shy Cape Clawless Otter which inhabits the many estuaries and streams in the area. The trail runs along the spectacular coast line between the Storms River mouth and Natures Valley taking place over 5 days and 4 nights where hikers are required to bring their own food and equipment. The trails highlights includes breathtaking views, white sand beaches, dramatic cliffs and endless coastline. This is not one to be missed!
